Getting the audio

Wherever the recording came from, getting it out is one step

Most people arrive with a voice message from a chat app; plenty arrive with a memo, a call recording or a meeting export. We read the format from the file's contents rather than its name, so the extension does not have to be right.

Chat voice messages

opus / m4a

On the phone, open the message menu and share it to Files or straight into this page. On desktop, download it from the message. WhatsApp notes arrive as Opus, or M4A once they have passed through an Apple app.

Voice Memos

m4a

iPhone and iPad memos: Share, then Save to Files. Nothing needs converting first.

Android recorder

m4a / amr

Recordings sit in Files under Recordings or Sounds. Share from there, or pick the file here.

Meeting recordings

mp3 / m4a

Download the recording from Zoom, Teams or Meet and drop the audio in. Long files cost more per pass — the maximum is quoted before you commit.

Dictaphones and cameras

wav / mp3

Copy the file off the device as you normally would. WAV is fine; large files just take longer.

Anything else

we detect it

If your device can produce an audio file, this will read it. We work out the format from the file's contents, never from its name.

Chat apps are named here descriptively. VoiceDebrief is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any of them.

Two surfaces, one product

This page does one pass. The workbench does everything else.

The home page stays deliberately thin: a stranger with a recording should never have to learn anything. The heavier tools keep their own page, reached from the top menu and from every finished result — never in the way of the first pass.

This page

default

One recording in, four artefacts out. Nothing to configure and nothing to learn.

·The key is asked for when you press run, not before.
·The maximum a pass can cost is quoted before it starts.
·Close the tab and nothing of it remains anywhere.

Workbench

its own page

For people who want to work the recording rather than just read it.

Chat with the debriefAsk follow-up questions of what was actually said, grounded in the transcript.
Read the declared workflowEvery step, the model it uses and its spending ceiling — and what this run actually did.
See the raw callsEvery request and response as sent to OpenRouter, with tokens and real cost.
Edit the promptsOverride any prompt in the pass and keep it in this browser.
Same browser storage, so the key and the last result are already there — the two surfaces are one session, not two products.
What it costs

Pence a recording, paid to OpenRouter, not to us

There is no plan, no credit and no card on this site — today the only way to run it is your own key. We see none of that money and we add no margin. When there is something to sell you, this section will say so. Getting a key takes about two minutes, and the page that explains it also explains how to cap what the key can ever spend.

A 42-second note, transcript + debrief~£0.003
A three-minute note, everything onunder £0.20
What VoiceDebrief addsnothing

Those two figures are what we measured on real runs at current model prices, not a tariff — OpenRouter sets the price and it changes. The number that is always right is the maximum quoted on screen before a pass starts.
